ORA-00700 [pga physmem limit] Soft Assert Errors Prevent from Instance Startup (文档 ID 3012379.1)

Symptoms

1. The following errors occurred in the alert log and generated a incident trace file:

ORA-00700: soft internal error, arguments: [pga physmem limit], [96636764160], [13216883097], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], []
-OR-
ORA-00800: soft external error, arguments: [pga physmem limit] 

 2. The Call Stack Trace in the same incident trace file shows:

Cause

This issue is caused by a product defect and is investigated in:

Unpublished Bug 31946236 - Soft Assert ORA-800 [pga physmem limit] prevents instance startup and is fixed in future release 23.3 and above

Instance startup fails with one of the following soft assert error:
 
ORA-00800: soft external error, arguments: [pga physmem limit]
ORA-00700: soft internal error, arguments: [pga physmem limit], [96636764160], [13216883097], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [] 

Solution

1. Upgrade to a fixed version 23.1 or higher when available where the Bug is fixed

- OR -

2. Apply 19.23DBRU or higher, where the fix 31946236 is included

- OR -

 3. Apply Patch 31946236 if available for your version and platform.

If no patch exists for your platform and version, please contact Oracle Support to request a fix 

Note: Applying the fix for Bug Patch 31946236 will avoid instance startup failures due to soft assert errors, but note that soft assert errors due to large database memory settings for OS physical memory continue to occur.
