There are two documents attached to the page. One is a Powerpoint 95 document of 342KB, the other is a Word 6/95 document of 24KB.

The content is based on a presentation I gave to the European User Group annual conference in Madrid June 2000, and describes where execution plans come from, and how to interpret the simpler forms of plans.

The SQL that I use to dump the execution paths is the Oracle 8 version that is stored on this site. There is also a pair of files describing some of the more exotic results from Explain plan
