dopting new technologies can be a challenging task. You may have to design and implement your cloud, hybrid, and on-premises solutions, and extend or integrate Oracle products with other products. The Oracle Architecture Center simplifies complex implementations by providing vetted design patterns, architectures, solution playbooks, and deployment code.
Reference Architecture

Describes a specific use case having a vetted architecture, design recommendations, and sometimes deployment automation or code.

Reference architectures are:

Concise: Short, one-page documents, designed to help you get started and take full advantage of Oracle Cloud
Cross Product: Explain cross-product architectures to help you design and implement topologies
Deployable:

Reference architectures can include any of the following:
    GitHub code samples
Terraform or other deployment content on GitHub
A Deploy to Github button to deploy Terraform or other deployment scripts directly in OCI Resource Manager
A Deploy from Marketplace button to install an app from Oracle Cloud Marketplace

The following are some example reference architectures:

Set up a hub-and-spoke network topology using dynamic routing gateway
Migrate an on-premises Oracle Database deployment to an Exadata DB system

Go to www.oracle.com/reference-architectures or the Oracle Architecture Center to view all our Reference Architectures.
Solution Playbook

Describes architectural patterns and detailed implementation steps to solve your business problem.

A solution playbook begins with an overview of the end-to-end solution for a cross-product deployment. It may include prerequisite knowledge or configurations required before you begin using the solution. It can also include a single or multiple architecture diagrams that describe a topology and recommended design patterns. Solution playbooks are:

Targeted: Helps you achieve specific business goals tailored to your organizational requirements
Cross Product: Provides recommendations on how to use all products and services required to solve the business problem
Deployable:

Solution playbooks can include any of the following:
    GitHub code samples
Terraform or other deployment content on GitHub
A Deploy to Github button to deploy Terraform or other deployment scripts directly in OCI Resource Manager
A Deploy from Marketplace button to install an app from Oracle Cloud Marketplace

The Architecture Center includes two types of solution playbooks:

Design Playbook: Explains the concepts and choices to help you make informed decisions to address your organizational business problems. Some may include decision trees or workflows.
Implementation Playbook: Provides step-by-step instructions to implement an architecture pattern or a recommended solution. A pattern may also provide alternative architecture choices or code samples, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your business needs. It can also have a call-to-action button such as Deploy to Github that allows you to deploy the code automatically.

The following are some example design playbooks:

Learn about deploying Oracle E-Business Suite on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
Learn about architecting microservices-based applications on Oracle Cloud

The following are some example implementation playbooks:

Deploy Oracle SOA Suite Automatically On a Kubernetes Cluster
Develop a marketing website application using Oracle Visual Builder

Go to www.oracle.com/solution-playbooks or the Oracle Architecture Center to view all our Solution Playbooks.
Best Practices

Provide key considerations, tips and tricks, workarounds, troubleshooting advice, or even prerequisites to support a specific goal.

Best practices are explained sequentially for a specific goal or integration type and organized as a handbook or a reference manual. Best practices enable you to do the following:

Define what a solution means for you and your business
Make informed choices while selecting your integration solutions
Plan your integration based on your resources and impact to revenue
Build secure and resilient code with robust source control mechanisms

The following are examples of best practice content on the Architecture Center

Best practices for running Cloudera cloud solutions on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
Best practices for building resilient data integrations

Built and Deployed
Includes a video and architecture diagram with a real world example that provides guidance to future customers on how Oracle Cloud solved another customer’s business problem. Built and Deployed videos are an opportunity for existing Oracle customers to tell their deployment stories and their journey up to go-live.

Built and Deployed content includes the following information.

Customer story: 5 to 8-minute technical videos featuring an Oracle Cloud host interviewing one of the customer's technical experts
Architecture: Discuss the system architecture a customer has built and deployed on OCI

Built and Deployed content includes the customer’s story in video format.

The following are some example built and deployed content:

Alliance Data Systems: PeopleSoft deployment on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
BIAS Corporation: migration of a global customer to Oracle Cloud

Tell Your Built and Deployed Story

Oracle encourages all customers with all types of workloads to participate. To showcase the journey of your Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) production environment, see our Built and Deployed website.

Go to www.oracle.com/builtanddeployed or the Oracle Architecture Center to view all our Built and Deployed content.
Downloadable Diagrams

You can download the source architecture diagram from a reference architecture or solution playbook on the Oracle Architecture Center and tailor it to your project or environment.

Click the Download Diagram button to download a ZIP file containing a DRAWIO and SVG source files.
Badges
Oracle Architecture Center content may include certain badges such as Customer-Inspired, Automation Available, or Modern App Development.
Customer-Inspired
A proven architecture or solution that one or more customers successfully deployed, that inspired Oracle to identify and recommend the pattern to other customers.
Automation Available
An architecture or solution may contain one or more call-to-action buttons that enable you to deploy and download code, or directly deploy the code using OCI resource manager.

You can deploy this architecture using downloadable code or automated provisioning, as described in the Download or Deploy section in Reference Architectures and Solution Playbooks. The following are the three buttons that an architecture or solution may contain:

Deploy to Oracle Cloud: Pulls the code from OCI Resource Manager, creates the stack, and deploys it in your Oracle Cloud account
Deploy from Marketplace: Provides a link to install the application from Oracle Cloud Marketplace
Go to Github: Directs you to the Github repository so that you can download code samples, sample data, or deployment templates such as Terraform code, and get additional information about how to implement the solution or reference architecture.

The following are some examples including the automation features:

Example of Deploy to Oracle Cloud button: Deploy a highly available web application
Example of Deploy from Marketplace and Go to Github buttons: Secure your workloads running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure with FortiGate

Modern App Development
Describes patterns that enable you to build modern and secure cloud native apps that are highly available, resilient to failure, fully secure and compliant, and support DevOps processes. The goals of Oracle’s Modern App Development patterns are as follows.

Describe core requirements, design principles, and architecture patterns along with technology recommendations
Provide architecture patterns that you can use either independently or in combination with each other
Help simplify your architectural decision-making process
