1. Ensure that the Cisco ISE appliance is powered up.

2. Insert the Cisco ISE Software DVD.

3. Press F6 to select BIOS for CD boot.

4. For example, the Cisco ISE 3415 console displays the following message:

• [1] Cisco ISE Installation (Keyboard/Monitor)
• [2] Cisco ISE Installation (Serial Console)
• [3] Recover administrator password (Keyboard/Monitor)
• [4] Recover administrator password (Serial Console)

5. At the system prompt, enter 3 if you use a keyboard and video monitor connection to the appliance, or enter 4 if you use a local serial console port connection.

Enter 3 to recover the administrator password.

6. Enter the number corresponding to the admin user whose password you want to reset.

1. Access the direct-console CLI and enter:

application reset-passwd ise administrator_ID.

2. Specify and confirm a new password that is different from the previous two passwords that were used for this administrator ID:

Password reset successfully.
