Product description
This section describes the EMC PowerPath family of products.
The EMC PowerPath family of products include: EMC PowerPath multipathing, EMC
PowerPath Migration Enabler, EMC PowerPath Viewer, and EMC PowerPath Configuration
Checker. EMC PowerPath Encryption with RSA has gone end of life as of September 2014
and is therefore not supported in EMC PowerPath version 6.0.
The EMC PowerPath multipathing license includes Migration Enabler functionality for all
Migration Enabler technology types. EMC PowerPath Migration Enabler, EMC PowerPath
Viewer, and EMC PowerPath Configuration Checker does not require a separate product
license. If you have questions about your license, contact your EMC Customer Support
Representative.
Note
These release notes covers the EMC PowerPath major, minor, and service pack releases.
For patch release details refer to the patch Readme available on EMC Online Support.
EMC PowerPath multipathing
EMC PowerPath is a server-resident software solution designed to enhance performance
and application availability.
EMC PowerPath:
l
combines automatic load balancing, path failover, and multiple path I/O capabilities
into one integrated package.
l
enhances application availability by providing load balancing, automatic path
failover, and recovery functionality.
l
supports servers, including cluster servers, connected to EMC and third-party arrays.
