SYMPTOMS
You have installed your database on your AIX environment and are seeing the following problems:
In the alert log, various ORA-27300, ORA-27301, ORA-27302 and ORA-27303 errors are being seen :
Process startup failed, error stack:
ORA-27300: OS system dependent operation:fork failed with status: 17
ORA-27301: OS failure message: File exists
ORA-27302: failure occurred at: skgpspawn5
ORA-27303: additional information: skgpspawn5
Process startup failed, error stack:
ORA-27300: OS system dependent operation:fork failed with status: 2
ORA-27301: OS failure message: No such file or directory
ORA-27302: failure occurred at: skgpspawn5
ORA-27303: additional information: skgpspawn5
Process startup failed, error stack:
ORA-27300: OS system dependent operation:fork failed with status: 12
ORA-27301: OS failure message: Not enough space
ORA-27302: failure occurred at: skgpspawn3
The database hangs
The listener is not able to initiate new connections
The "oracle" OS user is not able to run any commands on the system
CHANGES
The profile and settings were copied from the old host.
CAUSE
In this case, the the OS had Loader Control (LDR_CNTRL) variable set to the following in the user profile:
LDR_CNTRL=LARGE_PAGE_TEXT=Y@LARGE_PAGE_DATA=M
The environment setting of LDR_CNTR is actually used for large page support when having the SGA locked which was
not locked in this environment nor was large pages being used. This setting is not required for running the RDBMS,
however, if using it, there are specific settings that must be implemented. The use of this setting overrides the default
stack settings and can lead to issues if not correctly configured.

SOLUTION
1. Remove the LDR_CNTRL parameter.
OR
2. Enable large page support and configure accordingly (Refer to Note 372157.1)
OR
3. Adjust the LDR_CNTRL parameter to the following:
LDR_CNTRL=DATAPSIZE=64K@TEXTPSIZE=64K@STACKPSIZE=64K
This is recommended and explained in many of IBM's white papers on Oracle Tuning.
