SOLUTION
The nslookup(1) requires to have read premission on the file /etc/resolv.conf to be capable to read the DNS client configuration.

The permissions on that file may get corrected by applying the chmod(1) command to that file.

Example:

chmod a+r /etc/resolv.conf

ls -l /etc/resolv.conf

-rw-r–r-- 1 root root 45 Jan 28 15:51 /etc/resolv.conf
